Basement work

by ian on Mar.01, 2009, under My Life

Jake has been helping me every Saturday.  It has been really fun and I am so grateful that he has been able and willing to help it.  Yesterday at 10 we went to the building supply store and picked up 8 sheets.  We got them all up before 2:30.  We finished the game room and started on the family room.  I think we can get most of the family room done next week.  Then we get to do a ton of mudding and taping.

Here’s some pics.

Basement fun

by ian on Jan.19, 2009, under My Life

This last week my Dad was able to come over to Pullman to help me work on my basement. My goal was to hang the sheet rock on the ceiling in the Bathroom/Laundry room and the Bedroom since those rooms were complete with wiring and and plumbing so I knew we wouldn’t have a bunch of extra stuff to do in there. The Livingroom still needed some electricity run. We ended up getting the ceiling up in all of the rooms. We also got all of the other stuff done too. We put all of the insulation around the rooms, got the wiring done, added a heat/AC register in the family room, and installed the new lighting. It was a lot of work but it was fun to work with my Dad as always.

Wednesday he play D&D with me and my friends. I know it had to be a shock, some of my friends are pretty into it. We also poured some acrylic resin into a mold to make some custom dice. I broke the mold open today but it wasn’t pretty. I think I need to inject each die compartment with a syringe next time. Only one die came out decent. I think it will be playable.

I think the highlight of the week was that he gave Jake and I the first in a series of drawing lessons. It was a lesson in proportions. I think I’m done with my assignment now. We’ll see how I did. I think it looks pretty decent for my first try.  I’ll post some pictures of stuff later.
